rogering he yelled his dead wife s name as he took Elispeth s virginity Then when it was all over for some reason he thought she was a whore and gave her a bunch of money and told her it was worth it.what a prince Fast forward 5 years, Alec burst back into Elispeth s life demanding to know where his bab I had to grit my teeth through most of the book The synopsis sounded good, but the delivery baby is at.after all he is the baby daddy, he knows this immediately from one throwaway remark that someone made to him So begins their tale of misunderstandings after misunderstandings and hurt feelings The writing was choppy and confusing most of the way through the book and suffered from lack of editing The townspeople were supposed to come off as quirky came off as creepy to me What was up with the sheriff shining his light on people while they were sitting on their porches and talking to them with his blow horn and if he wasn t doing that, he was spying on them through their windows with binoculars or playing opera through his car radio as loud as it would go.I know CL wanted to come off with Kathleen Eagle s smooth, strong Indian Irish clan, but it didn t come off that way Alek was a Russian Texan that not only was a award winning war reporter child savior, but also a world class rodeo champ.my eyes have cramps from rolling their way through this book Elispeth was a weaver of some re nound, but in the end her being so stiff and unyielding to the fact that Alek had changed made her cold and unlovable in my book I never really warmed up to her enough to believe that she had changed She made Alek grovel for her love and forgiveness, which he deserved, but not to the degree that she made him, IMO Oh wellthat was it for the Tallcheifs for me 3.5 stars This is my least favourite in the series.Loved the time spent with the Tallchiefs once again but this is my least favourite in the series. An awful lot of see sawing emotions in this one that don t always feel correct.Elspeth is entitled to her fears, doubts and angst after what has happened. As much as I love this book overall, I struggled to like Alek for half of this book His selfish and demanding attitude towards Elspeth is unacceptable He very badly mistreated her 5 years ago in 3.5 stars This is my least favourite in the series.Loved the time spent with the Tallchiefs once again but this is believing Elspeth has kept his child from him, he compounds his basic bad manners once he gets to Amen Flats And has THAT contract to live down. Then, after hearing stories from the townsfolk, he just flips into pursuing Elspeth, through guilt at having changed her life so dramatically than through real feelings. They are butting heads nearly till the end Just didn t feel the love between these two until too late I bought this book in paperback 20 years ago and still have it to this day This series of books has moved through many houses and countries with me Cannot wait to have them all in ebook format for easier rereading 3.5 stars This is my least favourite in the series.Loved the time spent with the Tallchiefs once again but this is my least favourite in the series. An awful lot of see
